Color Run
Register your runner here: my.cheddarup.com/c/gw-color-run
What is a Color Run?
The Color Run, also known as the Happiest run/walk on the Planet, is inspired by the Hindu festival of Holia and is a unique event that celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality. The Color Run/Walk is 1 mile, untimed event. At each lap, Color Runners are doused from head to toe in a different colored powder. Participants wear white at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color.
Is the color safe?
The Color Blast Dust is safe, non-toxic and completely washable! Our powder is a non-toxic, non-rash-inducing colored corn starch.
Key Information
Race day check-in will begin at 9:30am outside the school Gymnasium on Wall St. The run will begin around 10:30 am.
While the PTO is hosting this event, it is an independent family activity. The PTO is not providing chaperones for this event. PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST ACCOMPANY CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE EVENT/DAY.

Popcorn Friday!
Popcorn Friday is a great community-building event for our entire school. Kids love seeing the popcorn pop on Fridays! Seeing parents/guardians investing time in them and their school gives kids a wonderful sense of community.
We need volunteers to commit to whatever Fridays work for them by signing up in this Google form.

Parent Academy (NYS Assessments)
Kingston City School District (KCSD) will be holding a Parent Information Night focused on New York State (NYS) Assessments on February 26 from 6-7 p.m. in the George Washington Elementary School Auditorium.
This session will offer valuable insights to parents and guardians of students in Grades 3-8 and review recent changes to the NYS Assessments for English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science, and emphasize the importance of student participation in these tests.
The event will also discuss how these assessments provide teachers, families, and students with essential feedback on academic performance based on curriculum standards. We encourage families to attend and ensure their children have the support they need to thrive. Interpretation services will be available. For more information or questions, parents are encouraged to contact their child's school principal.
